San Diego Breweries & Wineries

Titan Beach Rentals guarantees our guests first-class customer service, and one of the many ways we do this is by providing all our vacationers with a guide to help plan their vacation. Offering local tips and suggestions can make planning your activities less of a hassle and more enjoyable.

Our San Diego guide is meant to introduce our guests to the area by sharing all of our favorite San Diego breweries and wineries. From a Peanut Butter Stout Float at Belching Beaver in North Park, to a trip wine tasting at Miramonte in Temecula, we have you covered.

If you have any questions, or need us to help narrow down some of our suggestions, please feel free to contact us! Also, you might enjoy reading our recommendations for the best pet friendly activities in San Diego.

Ballast Point

Ballast Point

Makers of the iconic, gold-medal winning Sculpin IPA, Ballast Point is one of the most popular local breweries in San Diego, having started in 1996. While they are well known for their beer, they also feature stunning artwork on their labels as well.

You can find tasting rooms in Miramar and Little Italy, plus they have featured taps around Petco Park, if you’re up for a San Diego Padres game. Additionally, their Swingin’ Friar Ale is the official craft beer of the Padres.

Stone Brewing

Stone Brewing

The ninth-largest brewer of craft beers in the United States, Stone Brewing was started in San Diego in 1996. Today, the internationally popular brewery has facilities on both coasts, seven locations, including the magnificent World Bistro & Gardens in Escondido, California, plus a location in the San Diego Airport!

Stone is most well-known for their regular IPA, Delicious IPA, and their Hazy IPA. For something a little different, and lite, try their Buenaveza Lager.

We highly recommend checking out the World Bistro & Gardens. However, with two locations right next to Point Loma, it makes for the perfect afternoon stop, or an evening out, while staying at one of our vacation rentals.

Modern Times Brewing

Modern Times

Starting in 2013, Modern Times has embodied all that is urban San Diego, brewing multiple different styles of beer from the classic IPA, to Pale Ale, Gose, Sours, and even coffee stouts and hard seltzer.

Nicknamed the “mothership brewery and coffee roastery”, their original location in Point Loma is modern, bright, and exciting. However, they also have tasting rooms in North Park and Encinitas, plus a brewery swim club in Anaheim!

Belching Beaver Brewery

Belching Beaver

Another newer brewery which spouted up in San Diego around 2012, they are very well known for their outside the box brews; crafting beers everyone can enjoy, which carries over to their whimsical label designs as well. With locations in Oceanside, Vista, North Park and Ocean Beach, they are readily available near all our vacation rental properties.

We highly recommend browsing their tasting menu, as you may find a few items you never thought existed, such as their Peanut Butter Milk Stout and the Viva La Beaver (peanut butter, cinnamon and coffee milk stout). Also, there is absolutely no way we can let you leave their tasting room without trying the Peanut Butter Milk Stout Float. Yes, that’s right, a beer float!

Decantos Vinicola Winery

Decantos Vinicola

Located in the fabulous Valle de Guadalupe, in Ensenada, Mexico, Vinicola is one of the most amazing locations for a quick day trip across the border. The Valle produces 90% of Mexico’s wine, and you can find numerous amazing locations, but Vinicola is our top pick.

Amazing valley views, indoor and outdoor seating, premium tastings, private tours, and more. The reds are a bit more earthy, and offer an interesting contrast from our local San Diego wineries in Temecula and Escondido.

Bernardo Winery

Bernardo Winery

Dating back to 1889, the Bernardo Winery has developed from an inclusion in a Spanish land grant, to one of the oldest, and well known, wineries in the region.

The grapes are locally sourced, mainly developing into Syrah, Zinfandel and Chardonnay, among others. The interesting part about the winery is the winemaking facility has been repurposed from a century-old building, which was once a barn for tractors.

Because of its history, the tours are fantastic, where you can view old methods of winemaking, large redwood barrels which are more than 130 years old, plus the decor is amazing.

Baily Winery

Baily Vineyard & Winery

Named one of the top 25 wineries in the United States by Reader’s Digest, Bailey Vineyard & Winery is also home to two award winning wines. Their 2021 Grandol Rose’ won a Double Gold Medal, while their 2021 Riesling received the same award, and was chosen the best semi-dry Riesling in the Los Angeles Invitational.

Spanning 29 acres, their vineyards are sprawling with Bordeaux varieties, such as Cabernet, Merlot and Malbec. Their state of the art production facility is perfect for tours, plus there are two separate locations for tasting.

Miramonte Winery

Miramonte Winery

Established in 2000, Miramonte is well known for its forward thinking as a boutique winery. Focusing on Rhone grapes, which develop Syrah, Grenache, Mourvedre, and Cinsault wines, their land was migrated to establish these varieties instead of the previously established types before their vineyards were redeveloped.

Today, their blends are focused around traditional Spanish and Portuguese grapes. As such, their vineyard has been developed via a gardening process, instead of farming.

Well known for the amazing views on top of the hill where their winery is located, they typically have an outdoor band, plenty of patio seating, a bistro, plus are pet friendly!
